ROCKET TOOL SKETCHER v1.2

 Nicolaj Ma 2010-2016

Q: What is this?
A: This application was made to be used for sketching tools for pyrotechnic rockets. It is targeted at people making their own tooling on a lathe. You can use the online version here or the downloadable .exe here It was made with Adobe Flash CS4 with ActionScript 3.0.

Q: How do I draw the desired rocket tooling?
A: First determine whether your measurements are in Imperial (Inches) or Metric (Millimetres). Next determine the type of rocket needed. You can choose "custom" from the "Rocket type" drop-down menu. When it is chosen, you'll be able to edit all the measurements of the tooling. If however another rocket type is selected from the drop-down, only the "Tube I.D." will be editable. The rest of the measurement will be calculated. You can at any time select the "custom" rocket type, and you'll be able to edit the rest of the input fields.
You can convert from inches to mm and vice versa by pressing the "Convert to" button. The rocket tooling will be calculated and sketches as you type and show the biggest possible picture of the tools.
TIP: Hold mouse over an input field to see what part of the tool you're editing.

Q: After putting numbers into all the input fields, the rocket tooling doesn't look like its supposed to?
A: Note that the sketch lines can easily stretch out of realistic proportions if wrong numbers are typed. Always check your numbers twice if this happens. For instance, if the "tube length" is less than "spindle length" + "collar height" the rammers will look weird. Of course my coding might also contain errors, which brings us to the next question.

Q: I have found an error in this program!
A: Report it, send me an e-mail and I'll see if I can fix it. I am well aware that numbers will sometimes overlap if the space is tight, however I have not found a fix yet. If you know ActionScript 3 feel free to e-mail me, I could use some assistance to certain errors and expanding of the application.

Q: How do I save the image?
A: The save button is currently disabled. After sketching the tooling use the "PrntScr" button on your keyboard, and paste Ctrl+V it into any program that can handle pictures (Word, Excel, Paint etc.) You can also use the Snipping tool.

Q: How do I print/share this picture with other people?
A: To print it, find the location of the saved image on your harddisk and open it. Press Ctrl+P
To share it, go to a site like pyrobin.com - then find your saved image and upload it.
